AIRCRAFT COLOURS AND MARKINGS OF THE FIRST
WORLD WAR ERA
No.34 Sqn RFC/RAF
No.34 originally used a zig-zag on the rear fuselage as their unit marking.
The first unit to use the RE8, No.52, took large losses and wanted to
get rid of their RE8s. Therefore Nos 34 and 52 traded their respective
aircraft (BE2e and RE8). The zig-zag apparently went to No.52 along with
the BE2s. The second BE2e shown may be at No.52 Sqn after the swap.
Later. No.34 used two sloping bars on their RE8s.
