AIRCRAFT COLOURS AND MARKINGS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR ERA

No 39 Eskadra Breguetow

The French Escadrille Br.39 was one of seven escadrilles sent to Poland under the Polish General Haller to fight the Soviets after the Armistice. This became the Polish 16 Eskadra Wywiadowcza in May 1920. Originally their aircraft carried French markings .. this can be seen modified with a Polish checkerboard in the illustration below - the wings at this time still carried French cocardes.
