AIRCRAFT COLOURS AND MARKINGS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR ERA

No 19 Eskadra Breguetow

The French Escadrille 66 was one of seven escadrilles sent to Poland after the Armistice under General Haller. As the French were not at war with the Soviets, their aircraft were turned over to the Polish 4 EW in September 1919. At least one of their aircraft appears to carry the original wartime insignia of an Egyptian bird on the fuselage. Also of interest is the non-standard checkerboard on the rudder, the orientation of which seems to vary.
